ÉRIC CHEVALLIER - The ’Bonnes Nouvelles’ Collection

Alex Rückheim

Eric Chevallier

Éric Chevallier gained notoriety from his hard work and contributions to the infamous concept store Colette in Paris, with whom he still collaborates today. After moving into the scenography and design of both store and brand, he not only worked on the 2008 make-over of the store, but signed off Colette’s new look, launched in 2014. Simplicity, purity and colours – these are the words that Éric Chevallier uses to describe his work.
The latest project sees the “free-spirit of design“ release the ’Bonnes Nouvelles’ collection; a series of ten models based on an experimental symbiosis of a classic straight four-feet chair, and a chair with four angled feet. Each chair is handmande in Burgundy in a certified Living Heritage Company. Both seats and backs are made from orange stained MDF, while the legs are made from metal-plated MDF. Each model is produced in triplicate. Price €400.

Y’s Super Position – Yohji Yamamoto for adidas Originals

Alex Rückheim

The latest collaboration between cutting-edge Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto and long-standing partner adidas, sees Yamamoto’s Y’s label team up with adidas Originals to re-work the brand’s classic Superstar silhouette. Renamed ’Y’s Super Position’, the sneaker elevates the classic adidas cues by adding a suede lace stay, a premium leather lining, and by replacing the Superstar’s trademark textured shelltoe with a smooth leather toe box. Yamamoto has further reinterpreted the Super Position rework by transforming the iconic three stripes into hand-stitched cotton tassels, zigzagging along the side panels.
The two monochromatic all-black and all-white editions of the Y’s Super Position are available exclusively at Y’s stores, No.74 Berlin, No.42 Paris, and select adidas Consortium retailers worldwide. Images by Lorenzo Cisi.

Neville – premium British grooming for distinguished gentlemen

Alex Rückheim

Neville stands for the ultimate in traditional yet modern British grooming. Inspired by old-fashioned men’s grooming and the refinement of the classic British barber shop, Neville fuses two worlds, both past and present. It combines a traditional approach to design and craftsmanship with modern, high-performance, naturally-derived formulas. Using only all-natural ingredients, Neville is backed-up with the expertise of award-winning beauty and lifestyle brand Cowshed. The result: a premium line of men’s shaving, hair, body and skincare products.
The Neville body wash is rich in mineral salts and vitamins, and crafted with a botanical blend of sugar cane, lemon, seaweed and pumpkin to both stimulate cell renewal and improve skin hydration. For the shaving traditionalists, Neville’s fine shaving soap is enriched with organic olive oil and glycerine to help nourish, protect, moisturise, and re-structure the skin.

Uniform Wares – Modern Watchmaking

Alex Rückheim

Founded in 2009 by Patrick Bek and Oliver Fowles, Uniform Wares set out to create high-quality watches that express unique ‘character and distinction through intelligent design, not branding’. In response to today’s pervasiveness of over-embellished statement watches, Uniform Wares decided to design and craft minimal timepieces. The result, a collection that rejects the unnecessary; a non-branded watch, that has no logo on the dial to make the design speak for itself. Every watch is developed in their London-based design studio, and assembled with meticulous attention to detail by their Swiss manufacturer.
The M37 is a two-hand watch in Uniform Wares’ signature M-Line case design at, as the name suggests, 37mm diameter. The ultra-minimal watch is made of 316L stainless steel, bead-blasted, brushed PVD black bezel, features scratch-resistant sapphire glass and a Swiss made quartz Ronda 762 movement. Price £240.

TOO ALIKE - Celebrating Gender Equality

Alex Rückheim

too alike is a self-initiated art project by Berlin based creatives Simon Freund, also known as founder of SIMON&ME and LOCAL, and Britta Reineke. In their collage-like photo installations, Simon and Britta self-portrait themselves in the same outfit. Here, it’s not just a matter of wearing similar or identical clothes but, in fact, they change one and the same outfit between the shoots. The project aims at expressing and celebrating gender equality.

RICHARD KILROY - 'Menswear Illustrations'

Alex Rückheim

Menswear Illustration is a carefully curated book which showcases the diversity and creativity that defines contemporary menswear illustration. Given today’s vibrancy of contemporary men’s fashion around the world, illustrator Richard Kilroy has drawn together a selection of some of the most interesting, important and influential menswear illustrators around. The list includes drawings of Cédric Rivrain, sketches of Richard Haines, and works of Donald Urquhart, Jean-Philippe Delhomme, Matthew Attard Navarro and many more. Kilroy focuses solely on menswear illustrations in an attempt to highlight those nuances that differentiate the craft from illustrating e.g. womenswear. “It could be asked why this book should focus on menswear, when it might be more rational to reflect on illustration as a whole ... but when we examine those artists who concentrate on menswear, we find particular emphases, moods and styles that are idiosyncratic to their craft.” Ranging from interpretative to photorealistic works, Menswear Illustration features a wide variety of visual styles from watercolours and sketches to pencil drawings.

Richard Kilroy is a fashion illustrator, writer and editor, is a tutor at renowned Central Saint Martins and guest lecturer at Royal College of Arts, London. Kilroy’s clients include Christian Dior, Canali and numerous magazines.
