MINIM PLAYING CARDS - BY JOE DOUCET

Alex Rückheim

'MINIM is a deck of regulation playing cards re-imagined by ny-based designer Joe Doucet, who managed to successfully reduce the familiar shapes of hearts, clubs, diamonds, and spades to minimal geometric symbols. The requirement to mark the backs of regulation cards has been fulfilled by a single diagonal line instead of the traditional ornamental patterns.' Pictures by Ode to Things.

NORI – The Character Collection by C/O BRAINSTREAM

Alex Rückheim

Boil your eggs the fun and easy way! BRAINSTREAM is a German, family-run manufacturer most known for its BeepEgg – a precise egg timer that not only makes you smile but which is based on an intelligent high-tech, temperature-based mechanism. The Character Collection was brought to life to merge this classic commodity with an aesthetic vision. In collaboration with diverse, young artists the series of six individually designed BeepEggs is meant to reflect both a certain character and today’s Zeitgeist. NORI marks the first out of the six creatively designed objects. Designed by New York based designer and illustrator Ly Thanh Le, the functional, smart little object is charmingly entwined by the arms of the Nori seaweed and seems as if it was hand-painted. How does it work? BeepEgg ‘NORI’ is boiled together with the real eggs. Based on a thermal model it measures the inner temperature of the real egg. NORI will play three different tunes for the three different stages of hardness: ‘Swan Lake’ for perfectly soft-boiled, ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’ for medium-boiled, and ‘A Little Night Music’ for hard-boiled. SANDWICHBIKES - SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION

Guest User

"Every part of the Sandwichbike is designed solely for this bike and manufactured with great care for the product as well as the environment. But where does it all come from?

The wood used for the Sandwichbike’s frame is beech plywood. Harvested in Germany, near a small town called Brakel to be exact. The factory producing the plywood is established right there, so there’s no need to drag trees all across the continent to get the Sandwichbike its frame.

A new Sandwichbike comes from mature wood, since the beech trees are harvested from the age of about 120 years. The forest they come from has been sustainably managed for more than 200 years, meaning no more wood is harvested than can be regrown again. This gains our plywood a PEFC certification. You can also customize your own Sandwichbike on their website."

MODO DESK LAMP BY JASON MILLER

Jason Miller is a Brooklyn-based designer and the founder of Roll & Hill. Born and raised in Darien, Connecticut, Jason’s suburban upbringing heavily influenced his early, more conceptual pieces — duct-taped chairs and cracked vases, among them — and continues to inform the elegant, historically rich work that has become his signature.
Jason received an MFA in painting and spent time in both the art and advertising worlds, but soon realized he preferred making things to documenting them. His designs — like a mirror whose photographic surface recalls a painted landscape — still often reflect those early preoccupations, but each is a functional object, with a kind of beauty and wit.
Today, Jason runs both Jason Miller Studio and Roll & Hill from his headquarters in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. He lives nearby with his daughter, Tuesday. (Bio via jasonmiller.us)

The Woodstock Wardrobe by Jeroen van Leur represents the ideal yet stylish mobile furniture that upvalues your room and your favourite clothing. The nice and clean frame only needs a wall to lean against. It is available in three sizes and different coloured connection parts. Great interior design that is worth to know. ‘Woodstock is a lightweight and mobile furniture collection. Inspired by the principle of tent poles, the pieces can easily be assembled. The modular system combines wooden sticks and copper connection parts. Due to this it is possible to create various combinations for different solutions. Just like tent poles, the Woodstock pieces are packed in a handy travel bag.’
