YSTUDIO - Brass and Copper Stationery

Alex Rückheim

Pick up a pen, and indulge yourself in the tranquillity of writing. Founded in Taiwan in 2012, ystudio seeks to explore vanishing culture and devotes itself to linking past memories and modern life. Their pure, raw material artefacts are made to last with the thought of being passed down from generation to generation. All items are lifetime stationery pieces and their design is perfectly matched with the ideal weight, and with a smooth yet steady feel when drawing straight or curved lines.

'In the hands, the brass, with the intense golden yellow, is gradually mild, deep with the ages, and piles up forefathers’ works full of wisdom; the feel, a bit heavy, always reminds us that we should honestly be responsible for every character we have written down.'

KINFOLK - Vol. 15 'The Entrepreneurs Issue'

Alex Rückheim

Founded in 2011, Kinfolk is now one of the leading independent lifestyle magazines for young creative professionals. The quarterly magazine maintains an intriguing and vibrant contributor base from around the world. As a ‘slow lifestyle’ publication it seeks to explore the different ways for readers to simplify their lives, cultivate community and spend more time with their friends and family.

'When buzzing through a sped-up world where there are always battles to be won and emails to be answered, learning to slow down in the workplace is imperative to both our productivity and happiness.'
- Carl Honoré, In Praise of Slowness

Volume Fifteen – the Entrepreneurs Issue – explores the motivation and innovation that drives the spirit of entrepreneurship. Nathan Williams and Georgia Frances King explain that “When we want to make a change in the world, we can sometimes feel pressured to keep achieving when what we really need is a break to slow down and focus on our personal goals. After all, it can be hard toeing the priority line between work and play.” As much as Kinfolk addresses the choices we make outside of work hours, the same mindful attention does this issue give to the time spent improving our professional selves. A great issue, and a must read.

KEDU by MEMO Paris

Alex Rückheim

Created in Paris, Memo fragrances stand for an instinct for celebration, a pronounced love of travel to strange lands, and an inclination for dreams. Following its ‘Les Échapées’ collection – the first opus of fragrances for both men and women – Memo continues its olfactory journey with a vibrant vegetal and botanical collection: ‘Graines Vagabondes’ – wandering seeds. Taking its inspiration of seeds and their symbolic expression of life, the first fragrance in the collection – KEDU – is a composition structured around the symbiosis of sesame and grapefruit. Although the use of seeds in perfumery is not an altogether new phenomenon, “it’s quite original to give them the central place in a composition” says Aliénor Massenet, nose of Memo.

“The imaginative world that has arisen around seeds is ancestral and infinite. […] Not all of them are relevant to perfumery, however, they will be chosen according to the stories that we wish to tell and the accords that they create.”
- Clara Molloy, Creative Director

KEDU, referring to the ‘The Garden of Java’ in Indonesia, is characterised by a triptych set up: its olfactive features encompass the top note (oil of grapefruit, oil of mandarin, neroli), the heart note (maté absolute, fressia accord, rose-peony accord), and the base note (sesame absolute, white musk, moss). Its three key notes are oil of grapefruit, sesame absolute and white musk, giving the composition all of its depth and breadth. Price £168. Images by Ali Baï and Gladys Fabie.

FEIT DIRECT - The Moccasin

Guest User

FEIT’s Hand Sewn Slipper applies a modern design to a classic summer shoe – the moccasin.

Rather than hand stitching at the front, the moccasin is hand sewn at the back. Designed to be worn without socks, these shoes are uniquely constructed from one solid piece of suede.

'The Italian vegetable suede is tanned using only natural tannins and organic materials instead of chemical dyes and unnatural pigments. This ensures that the leather retains it’s ability to breathe and stay cool in the warm summer weather.'
